Waterfowl and Duck Pen Replacement

Old Waterfowl Structure
The old waterfowl structures had to be replaced.

The Prince Rupert Wildlife Rehab Shelter just completed their new waterfowl & duck pens. These were to replace the older structures that were basically falling apart. It would be only a matter of time before these old pens actually fell down. They have been on the Wildlife wish list for quite some time and it was only just recently, in 2011, enough funding was obtained to complete them. They look great and we are very pleased with them! These new buildings will allow for a safe and secure environment for all the waterfowl & ducks that come to the shelter.

We wish to thank all those that contributed to this project. In particular, we wish to thank the Public Conservation Assistance Fund (PCAF) which contributed $5,000 to this pen construction. They have also helped us in the past during the
famous snow storm that hit the North Coast in 2007. This was when some of our pens collapsed causing a great deal of damage and also killing some birds. It is donations from organizations such as the PCAF that allow the shelter to carry on and   "WE THANK THEM !"

Also, we wish to mention the management and staff of Prince Rupert's Home Hardware. The local owner, Brian Hunchuck, contributed much of the needed building supplies that went into the construction of these waterfowl-duck pens.

We thank him and everyone at
Home Hardware for all their support!
