Red-tailed Hawk

This is a mature Red-tailed Hawk that arrived at the Wildlife Rehab Shelter.

The story below is about another immature Red-tailed Hawk called 'Manny', who was found on the side of the road.

Canadian Stevedoring staff found me, on the side of the road by the ocean, one day. I got a piece of hard plastic stuck in my throat and I couldn't eat anything for days. I was so hungry and weak, I couldn't fly anymore. It is a good thing I stopped there where the men found me because, they drove me to the Wildlife Rehab Shelter where Nancy took the plastic out. Then I showed them how hungry a Red-tailed Hawk could eat. I was still just a youngster and there wasn't much food for me to eat at that time of year, so I enjoyed the free meals at the shelter. When the food was more plentiful in the wild, I flew away free and happy.

Hungry and weak, it was easy for me to be rescued. I was put in a box and taken to the Wildlife Rehab Shelter.
Feeling better!
It did not take me long to eat all that food that I was given here, for free. Shortly afterwards, I was able to fly up to the roof trusses and watch the goings on from there.

Am I not the prettiest little thing you ever did see? I am really thankful the shelter was here to help me. It gave me the chance to grow up as, I wouldn't be so pretty if I was dead.
