![]() ![]() This Trumpeter Swan was brought into the shelter, very weak and in poor condition. It did not improve with our best efforts and care. When we weighed the swan, it was found to have been starved well beyond it's critical mass for survival. Below this weight, the bird will start to digest it's own organs for energy. The result of these attempt's at self preservation, if they have gone too far, is a bird that cannot be saved. The pictured swan was euthanized by a local veterinarian, to relieve it's pain and suffering. Two more pictures, of this swan in it's poor, state are below. |
